Turnbull Shines in Wine Advocate’s 2019 Napa Report

Posted: January 11, 2022

The 2019 growing season set the stage for another amazing vintage in Napa Valley. Generous rainfall at the start of growing season preceded a long, warm summer with few extreme heat events. Cool, foggy mornings preserved freshness and finesse in the fruit, while abundant hang time on the vines allowed for ideal color, structure, and fruit tone extraction. The result: exceptional, balanced fruit with bright acidity, ample texture, and supple tannins.

Lisa Perrotti-Brown of Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate would agree; in the magazine’s annual and highly anticipated “2019 Napa Valley Vintage Report”, Perrotti-Brown cites the “remarkable purity” of Napa Valley’s 2019 Vintage wines, “which are not overripe nor underripe but beautifully expressed.” Perrotti-Brown praises the “high-quality” 2019 Napa Valley wines, which are “of a classic, ripe, plush and beautifully expressive style,” concluding: “this is a vintage that is going to make a lot of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon lovers, in particular, very happy.”

We are delighted to see our 2019 wines shine in this report, each exhibitive of the very qualities Perrotti-Brown praises.

“Our long obsession with quality and excellence in every vintage, both in our farming and winemaking, is no secret,” says Winemaker Peter Heitz. “It’s great to see the entirety of our program receive this kind of recognition.”

You can read Lisa Perrotti-Brown’s full reviews of Turnbull’s 2019 Vintage wines below. Stay tuned for updates on the gradual release of these beauties—in the meantime, we have a couple of these ’19’s as well as several celebrated ’18’s available for purchase online or by phone, 707-963-5839.
