Antonio Galloni of Vinous recently published his review of Napa Valley’s 2019 Vintage Wines in his most recent article, “The 2019 Napa Valley Cabernets: A Deep Dive,” and we are humbled to be considered among the best in the Napa Valley.
To receive such stellar reviews from the Antonio Galloni is an honor, and reminds us how lucky we feel to farm such exceptional vineyards, and how proud we are of the entire Turnbull team who make it all happen; from vineyard to cellar to the front-of-house, a lot of work (and love) goes into each bottle of Turnbull wine.

2019 Turnbull Pierra Cabernet Sauvignon – 97 Points: Exceptional. A profound and emotionally moving wine that exemplifies the very best attributes of its kind. These are the world’s great, iconic wines.
“The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Pierra is a single puncheon from Leopoldina. It takes all the signatures of that site and dials up the volume to eleven. Soaring aromatics and plush fruit meld together in a sumptuous Cabernet that dazzles from start to finish. The 2019 marries opulence and finesse in a super-ripe, full-throttle Cabernet that is sure to thrill the estate’s fans.”

2019 Turnbull Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon – 96 Points: Exceptional.
“The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Black Label is built around a core of fruit from Leopoldina, with about 30% of the fruit from Fortuna. Black cherry, plum, chocolate, new leather and spice build in a potent, explosive Cabernet that hits all the right notes. In 2019, the Black Label is a real head turner. The flamboyant style offers tons of immediacy that will make the 2019 pretty hard to resist right out of the gate.”

2019 Turnbull Leopoldina Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon – 96 Points: Exceptional.
“The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Leopoldina Vineyard is a real stunner. Silky, perfumed and exquisitely beautiful, the 2019 captivates all the sense with its striking beauty and magnificent balance. Blood orange, pomegranate, sweet red cherry, mint and wild flowers all soar out of the glass. The aromatics alone are so alluring. In 2019, the Leopoldina is a bit eccentric, but it is also incredibly captivating.”

2019 Turnbull Amoenus Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon – 95 Points: Outstanding. A wine of remarkable personality and breed that is well worth seeking out.
“The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Amoenus Vineyard captures all the natural power of this Calistoga site. Black cherry, plum, graphite, scorched earth, licorice and gravel give this somber Cabernet a real sense of gravitas. This potent Cabernet will benefit from at least a few years in bottle.”

2019 Turnbull Fortuna Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon – 94 Points: Outstanding.
“The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Fortuna Vineyard is a racy, succulent wine. Sweet red cherry, red plum, kirsch, blood orange and spice give the Fortuna a very attractive upper register to play off its mid-weight feel and structure. The Fortuna is one of the hidden gems in this range.”

2019 Turnbull Leopoldina Vineyard Lagrein – 94 Points: Outstanding.
“No, this is not a typo. Turnbull’s 2019 Lagrein Leopoldina Vineyard is an inky, explosive wine that captures a surprising amount of varietal character. It tastes like an Alto Adige Lagrein on steroids, and I mean that in a positive sense. This rich, head-spinning Lagrein sure has a ton to offer. Red/purplish fruit, rose petal, spice and mint linger.”
