Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc

Turnbull’s Sauvignon Blanc has aromas of grapefruit, guava and melon. The wine has a hint of honey, balanced by a slight minerality. The wine is crisp and lively with medium body and a long-lasting finish.

The Viticulture: Our vineyards’ temperate and restrictive soils are key ingredients in growing high quality Sauvignon Blanc fruit. We use viticultural practices that maximize fruit character and varietal intensity, by optimizing sunlight and air circulation in the canopy. Our grapes are harvested in early morning to protect the delicate aromas.

The Winemaking: The hand picked clusters are gently de-stemmed. The skins and juice are then “cold soaked” briefly, to enhance the varietal character of the juice, and gently pressed and cold-fermented at 55 degrees for 3-4 weeks. The wine is aged on its lees and stirred weekly to develop a luscious mouth feel.

The Result: Bright and forward aromatics, delicate viscosity and crispy texture.

Napa Valley Old Bull

Rich with aromas of plums, berries, dried cherries and a touch of mocha.  In the glass, the dense dark flavors of blackberry and coca dominate. A true blend of our estate lots, the wine has additional complexity from the rich tapestry of varietals found within.

The Viticulture: Our Old Bull reflects our philosophy that great wines begin in the vineyard. Everything we do in the vineyard is about maximizing varietal character and creating balance in our wines.

The Winemaking: A proprietary wine created to be balanced and inviting. We blend varieties to create a wine that is more compelling and richer than the sum of the parts. Each varietal is fermented separately in stainless steel tanks and aged in traditional cooperage for thirteen months.

The Result: A wine that is fragrant and inviting; a wine of medium body with both power and finesse.

Napa Valley Merlot

Our Merlot is dark in color and has aromas of cherries, plums and brown spices. Full-bodied and well balanced with a long finish.

The Viticulture: The soil type in each of our vineyards contributes its individual character to our final estate blend. Each soil type and microclimate demands unique farming techniques to obtain the most character from the site. Different levels of crop thinning, leaf removal, irrigation and trellis systems are applied, depending upon the conditions.

The Winemaking: Individual lots from each vineyard are fermented separately in stainless steel tanks. Fermentation is followed by a two-week maceration and 18 months of barrel age in French oak.

The Result: Aromas of cherries and spice; full in the mouth with supple tannins and rich texture.

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Dark, rich and extracted, this wine has aromas of cassis, black cherry and currants. The oak adds both a sweetness and roundness to this aromatic and powerful wine.

The Viticulture: By carefully matching the ideal rootstock to our estate soil types and grafting only the finest selections of fruiting wood, we grow some of the best fruit in the Napa Valley. The result is naturally low-yield, providing small clusters and berries that are full of flavor and character.

The Winemaking: Each vineyard block is vinified separately in small stainless steel tanks and then barreled down into select French Oak barrels, which work in balance with the fruit. The blend is primarily Cabernet Sauvignon with a touch of Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Merlot, blended to deliver bright fruit aromatics.

The Result: A dark wine with full body and rich texture; aromas of plums and cassis with brown spices.

Napa Valley Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

Characterized by aromas and rich flavors of dark fruits–black cherry, cassis and sun ripened blackberries–balanced by a dense layer of chocolate, roasted coffee and sweet oak character.

The Viticulture: Everything we do in the vineyard is designed to maximize the intensity and balance of flavors and aromas in this wine. The low vigor, ancient volcanic soils naturally limit crop size and create beautiful harmony in our fruit. We further enhance fruit intensity by careful pruning, then making successive thinning passes in the late summer. The precision vine trellising and shoot positioning allows maximum photosynthetic efficiency, as well as protection from sunburn.

The Winemaking: This wine is a blend of classic Bordeaux Varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot. Each vineyard block is vinified separately in small stainless steel tanks. The wine is then barreled down into discrete barrel lots and aged in French Oak barrels for twenty months.

The Result: A wine of power and finesse; full bodied yet supple; approachable in its youth, but capable of extended bottle age.
